Description:
Original vintage Finnish promotional matchbook sleeve advertising Arina Sokos, the regional department store in Oulu, paired with promotion for the Ryhti restaurant.
The Sokos side leans into mid-century retail confidence, featuring illustrated modernist store buildings and the slogan “Valinnan varaa tavaratalossa” (plenty of choice in the department store). A snapshot of post-war consumer optimism and the rise of co-operative shopping in Finland.
The reverse promotes Ryhti, highlighting a high-quality kitchen, private cabinets and meeting rooms, modern comfortable spaces, a good sauna, and the irresistible promise of “Tanssia joka ilta” (dancing every night). The bow-tie graphic perfectly captures the era’s social life and after-hours culture.
A brilliant crossover piece of retail, hospitality, and social history, showing how shopping, dining, and nightlife once lived side by side.

Very good vintage condition. Light age-related wear only. Print remains bold and legible with no major tears or damage.
